When we look into past we find that once those countries was considered to be powerful who was having the surplus lands. Those countries were having monopoly over the other countries. Later on it was replaced by weapons, weapons rich countries were now having monopoly over the other countries. They were having the power to rule over others. With the passage to time those countries that were now having the latest information of any technology are powerful. The government is spending a large budget for a suitable piece of information which can lead to the highest position. Mars project an example of it. In this spare the role of library becomes more important. The main motive is to keep the organization at work to obtain its goal".

One of the most talked subjects in corporate circles in recent time is how to optimize the contribution of Human Resources and Human relation in achieving organizational/institute goals and objectives. An efficient and satisfied work force is the most significant factor in organizational/ institutional effectiveness and managerial excellence.Systematic investigation in industrial and service organizations have revealed that though individually our workers are knowledge able and efficient but their collective expectoration are not up to the mark.

What are the levels and patterns of misunderstanding possible from mismatching expectations? Since library is a nonprofit organization, working relationship center on role expectations along with expectation for adequate rewards.

"Role in Librarianship today is problematical particularly for administrator. Here "Role” referees to specific forms of behavior associated with given tasks. Librarian grasp into working relationship, he or she is better prepared to prom commitments with himself, herself, staff and clients, he/she is sure to achieve success in his/her field of work.

Conflicts in Libraries

Library being a nonprofit organization is basically a people's organization and people’s institution cannot escape from the clutches of conflict. The following are some of the areas where conflicts could arise in working condition or relationship:

  1. When authorities insist on more service and satisfy more number of readers with minimum resources.
  2. When a change is introduced either in infrastructure or in the pattern of services inside the Library, without the training of the Library In-Charge or other members.
  3. When the authority fails to recognize the special efforts taken by Library In-charge or subordinates to improve the outlook of the library.
  4. When allocation is very much limited but readers demand better service.
  5. When the authorities fail to be aware of conflicting conditions a hostile relationship is established.

The members of the staff of libraries come from varied walks of life and different bock grounds, naturally they reflect their background and personality in their work and sometime they create problems. Therefore there must be a clear cut line of formal authority running form the top to the bottom of every organization. Gritting work from other persons is more difficult than doing particular job by self. The chief librarian/ Library In-charge should have the qualities of a header so that the subordinates derive inspiration from him. He should be an example model to be followed by his subordinates. Library In-charge being the qualities of leader should be:-

  1. Arbitrating and mediating: Resolving the disagreement by arbitrating or making the decision on the course of action to be taken.
  2. Suggesting: Suggestion often permits the subordinates to retain dignity and a séance of participation.
  3. Supplying objectives: It will allow members to work together.
  4. Representing: As a representative the Library In-charge serves as a symbol of organization and speaks for the organization, clarifies organizational position.
  5. Executing:  As a manager the In-charge not only contributes for planning unit also takes responsibility for executing the plan.

In spite of these qualities the other qualities should be inspiring and zeal building, He should be expert. Purveying rewards and punishments, exemplifying and provide a ready target for the members of the group. Basically this Library In-charge should also have the quality of a good manager or by motivation. The term "motivation" is a Latin word means "to move". According to "motivation" is a complex of forces starting and keeping a person at work in a organization. With the help of motivation the condition can be create for the employees to work with zeal, initiative, interest and enthusiasm. In such circumstanstances the employees can achieve the target very effectively with a sense of responsibility, loyalty and discipline and also with pride and confidence. The motivation can also be done though monetary or non-monetary techniques to run library success fully. The librarians/ Library In-charge should let his staff know that he consider them valuable and capable. After providing the responsibility to the particular staff or group of staff, there should be care full watch on their activates, response and on the result or output.

Since 2005 I am working as a college Library In-charge I feel that my duties are not only to store and project the books and other journals but also how I can help my students and other staff so that they can be best benefited. I posses with several problems which hinder me many times such as:-

  1. Student and other staff have less or no time to visit the library.
  2. Tremendous information is available on internet, is also a major challenge.
  3. The psychology of students and the staff regarding the libraries are negative; they suppose the Library In-charge as just the custodian of books.
  4. Lack of fund, whatever is left after completing the other projects; the remaining budget is allocated to library.
  5. Library is passed with several other challenges as

limited availability of linguistically relevant facilities is only provided.

  1. The difference between the percentage of education of boys and girls especially in backward areas is also a major hindrance for libraries as the half percentage of population is unable to use the library.
  2. The behavior of subordinates is sometimes not cooperative.

Inspite of several challenges I have the keen desire to take the profession on the top so that the students can be best served. Since the libraries are not meant for profit motto the duty of Library In-charge. Becomes more important I know that it is difficult but not impossible for me it is indeed.
